This past weekend, I was on the Berlengas Islands – and experienced one of those special moments. Not because the islands are so breathtakingly beautiful (they are!), but because I suddenly realized: I was completely dressed in Kleiderklammer clothing.
Five years ago, I decided to stop buying new clothes. Only the essentials, like wetsuits or warm ski clothing, are allowed to be new additions – everything else I sew myself. A decision that was more of an experiment back then has now become my normal everyday life.
And so there I stood:
- In my olive green bikini.
- With my super comfortable all-day shorts in black.
- In a light, airy linen shirt.
- With my hummingbird bucket hat on my head.
- And for the cool boat rides – my homemade hardshell rain jacket.

It was a wonderful feeling to realize: I can dress myself from head to toe. Every seam, every fabric, every piece tells a story – from the idea to the last stitch. And that’s exactly what makes my clothes so valuable to me.
This moment was not just a trip to an island, but also a small pause: A reminder of why I embarked on this path five years ago – and how much joy it brings me today to wear my own wardrobe.
P.S.: Photo credits go to Parag, because he asked for it. He’s not a professional photographer, but he enjoys taking pictures for everyone – provided you bring your own camera. Message me and I’ll give you his contact info. xD
